My Vision for 2025: Empowering the Deaf Community and Breaking Business Barriers
This response is important for our ability to learn from mistakes, but it alsogives rise to self-criticism, because it is part of the threat-protection system. In other words, what keeps us safe can go too far, and keep us too safe. In fact it can trigger self-censoring.
One touch of a red-hot stove is usually all we need to avoid that kind of discomfort in the future. The same is true as we experience the emotional sensation of stress from our first instances of social rejection or ridicule. We quickly learn to fear and thus automatically avoid potentially stressful situations of all kinds, including the most common of all.
My Goals for 2025
My plans for 2025 are ambitious and focused, encompassing a series of initiatives designed to empower the Deaf community and enhance representation in business. Below are the key initiatives I will be pursuing:
- TV and Video Production
A central aspect of my vision is to develop and produce business-focused television and video projects that highlight the achievements of Deaf professionals across the UK. Inspired by popular shows such as Dragons’ Den and The Apprentice, these programmes will showcase the unique challenges and successes of the Deaf community within the business sector.
By bringing these stories to life, I aim to increase the visibility of Deaf entrepreneurs, challenge stereotypes, and inspire both Deaf and Hearing audiences to embrace the value of inclusion.
- Book Collaboration
Another exciting project is my second book, a collaborative effort with a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter. This initiative is not simply about writing a bookit is an invitation for co-authors to join me in exploring the power of communication and inclusion in today’s society.
Prospective collaborators are invited to invest £5,000 towards the project, which will cover its development and ensure its success. In return, contributors will receive royalties from book sales, creating an opportunity to make a meaningful impact whilst earning financial rewards.
- Speaking Engagements and Training
To address communication barriers in professional environments, I am committed to delivering keynote speeches, seminars, and training sessions. These events aim to create meaningful dialogue between Deaf, Disabled, and Hearing communities, fostering greater understanding and inclusion in workplaces across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
By sharing my experiences and insights as a Deaf entrepreneur, I hope to inspire organisations to embrace diversity and unlock the full potential of their teams.
- Guest Appearances on Podcasts and Vlogs
Sharing my personal insights as a Deaf entrepreneur is a powerful way to challenge misconceptions and inspire others. For this reason, I am keen to appear as a guest on podcasts and video blogs (vlogs).
Through these platforms, I aim to shed light on the unique challenges faced by Deaf professionals, as well as the similarities I share with Hearing business leaders. My goal is to inspire audiences to view diversity and inclusion as essential to success in the modern business world.
- UK Deaf Business Organisation
Another key initiative is the establishment of a UK-based Deaf business organisation. This platform will serve as a hub for networking, collaboration, and professional growth specifically tailored to Deaf entrepreneurs.
The organisation will feature guest speakers, business-focused events, and opportunities for members to learn, share, and grow. By creating this dedicated space, I hope to foster a stronger sense of community and support amongst Deaf business professionals in the UK.
- Advocacy with the British Government
Advocacy is a cornerstone of my mission for 2025. My focus is on encouraging the British government to establish a dedicated Deaf business group. Such a group would play a pivotal role in unlocking opportunities for Deaf professionals, offering tailored support and addressing systemic barriers.
Through my continued advocacy efforts, I aim to bring about tangible change that will empower Deaf professionals to thrive in all areas of business and entrepreneurship.
Why These Initiatives Matter
Growing up Deaf, I have experienced first-hand the challenges of navigating a world not designed for everyone. Communication barriers often present significant hurdles, particularly within the business world. Despite these obstacles, I have been fortunate to build a successful career, and I am committed to paving the way for others to do the same.
Representation is crucial. When Deaf professionals see themselves reflected in leadership, media, and advocacy, they are inspired to dream bigger and aim higher. By creating opportunities and breaking down barriers, I hope to empower the next generation of Deaf entrepreneurs and leaders to reach their full potential.
These initiatives are not merely about my success they are about fostering a more inclusive society where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive.
